debt

If you had turned on C-SPAN this weekend, you might have caught the National Commission on Fiscal Responsibility & Reform Meeting where they failed to get the 14 votes out of 18 (they got 11) to push the recommendations to a vote in Congress. The jaded among us knew nothing would come out of it as even the members of the commission reflected, not when there was a tax cut bill in Congress.

History will show how leaders in the early 21st century did not have the courage to make good long-term decisions about the debt in the longest recession (or longest period with the slowest growth, somebody needs to think of a term). And, how my generation did nothing but vent about it.
