textbook

As in all my travels, I carry multiple reading materials to keep me sane during my travels. I sometimes read a periodical to try to catch up with the latest news or read an engrossing fiction. Since I'm a little more savvy about what keeps my attention and how much material I would like to carry, I am picky about what I bring on my travels. A periodical or book has to be special to keep my attention from the crying baby, chatty neighbor, or the turbulence that always seems to appear on my plane rides. On my last trip, I found my first textbook that was able to hold my attention. The authors wrote the textbook in a contemplative mode like a note from one friend to another. It's a dated textbook but I can appreciate the thought and the motive that went behind it. My favorite quote from what I have read so far:
As you begin to see the beauty of any of these levels, remember that there is still another level to come. The whole process will be very much like peeling an onion; you uncover layer after layer and are often moved to tears during the process. If you like onions, the whole thing is worthwhile.
