sk
I have a love/hate relationship with Steven King books. My first SK book was Thinner which I actually listened to instead of read. Once reading (or listening, he creeps you out more) the book, you will never think about food the same way again. He's an amazing storyteller that weaves you into his stories and like narcissist and malevolent person you thought was a friend, he leaves you in the middle of his terrifying and unhinged landscape. My second SK book was highly recommended by a friend, The Dark Half. I couldn't finish the book because of the darkness of the story. Then, a few years later, I decided to read one of his books that was not of the horror genre, The Green Mile. People rave about this movie but the book was much better and more discomforting. SK's ideas of life, the world, religion, politics, and morality seeps through all his writings. You are left wondering what actually goes on in his head or where did he find such darkness. Every couple of years, I forget how much his writings disturb and I end up reading or seeing one of his creation. Last night, I watched The Mist and again, at the end of the movie, I wondered why I got sucked into another one. No spoilers but again, I wonder what occurs in his psyche.
