summer

It's always humbling to be looking through the job ads even when you are not actively looking for a job. I've realize I have a hole in my job skill set, SAS. It doesn't matter if that I have mad skills with Excel and other statistical tools including extensive db experience. SAS is like a magical word. So, I'm making it a summer project to find a copy and learn how to use it. I'm also beginning to assess how I can keep my other job skills sharpened while I pursue my studies. At the end of my studies, I need to find a job. Why does academics and work seem so diametric?

I was recently talking to a department head about what I wanted to do with my degree. He bluntly told me my ideal job might not exist. However, I know that my last position would not have been predicted ten years ago. I hope that I am planning for the job that will exist in the future and hopefully, it fits me.

I'm saying good bye to old dreams and saying hello to new ones.
