min wage
Last time the minimum wage went up, I was working for minimum wage. And, I did remember the rate change making a difference for me. I thought hourly rate had gone up since then. 2009 is a long time to wait.

caution
I was a little concerned about this article on the execution of the China's food and drug chief. May, convicted, June, appeal denied, July, executed. In California, most death row inmates' appeal process average 17.5 years. Is fear a good motivator? It is more likely to hide problems.

The problem with not having a TV and cable is I do miss on some great programming. For example, I miss the History Channel. I still remember the wonderful classes when our teacher showed Eugene Weber's Western Tradition.

I watch alot of Jon Stewart. I like the way he can spin humour into the news. His views are not always my views but he is willing to make fun of the absurdies that pop up in the news. I came across his interview with Bill Moyer. It's a very good interview and it made me think that Jon Stewart could be more than just a replacement for David Letterman.
