french

Due to alot of reading when I was younger, I am more familiar with the monarchies of England and France than my own family tree. French Revolution was a fascination. Maybe the new movie, Marie Antoinette will spark interest in another generation. My perception of her has changed from a history teacher's joke to sympathy for her ill-fated life. France had a monarchy for over 1000 years and it fell within just a few years. It makes me wonder of pattern of events causes nations and kings to rise and fall.

Nobody weaves a better story of these times than Charles Dickens.
