I'm not sure if it was the latest Microsoft updates or the Microsoft Genuine application. I'm leaning toward the Microsoft updates but it played havoc on my Sony CD-ROM/DVD player on my 700m. The drive kept showing up as empty when I looked for the DVD. CDs would play fine. I ended up having to reinstall the drivers for my player. There were two versions for my player and you have to install the correct version.
Fair warning since I couldn't find any information about this problem online, well, not yet anyways.
