repeg
Well, China made their move, they repegged the yuan(renmingbi). 2%! Economists were definitely expecting a more realistic peg. But like my Econ professor had mentioned, there might be some cultural reasons for not moving it out of the 8 region. Also, the yuan is now pegged to a basket of currencies, definitely a good idea.
Another China news item, CNOOC and the Unocal bid. Very interesting in light of the fact that U.S. congressmen see a problem with China owning this energy source for billions of dollars while China is holding U.S. notes worth trillions. This is a story where politics trumps the idea of a global efficient market.

hello Yahoo
Hello Yahoo,
Can I help you do your business better? Why don't you allow your customers to select level of marketing aggressiveness (high, medium, low)? Product promotions go through different distribution curves so why assume a constant click rate.
Also, why don't you allow your customers to contact you with tips like this to improve your business?

customization
We seem to be going in direction of product customization again. Zazzle is a new company that targets mass customization (Slashdot). Customization is great to demand a higher price from a consumer but sufficient customer demand disappears quickly in a down economy.
Should businesses always try to meet customers' demands? Like Ford said, "You can paint it any color, so long as it's black." Do consumers want unique products or products that make them unique? Should businesses aim for customers' demands or anticipated needs?
Also, thinking these days of business ideas that achieved the tipping point such as overpriced coffee.

Whew!
I'm back.
Wow. It's amazing how fast things are done these days. My domain got switched over in seconds. I was expecting to wait at least 24-48 hours. Now, I'm rushing to complete the last bg items. You aren't going to see a design change for a little bit. I'm just glad I'm back.
The story is that I was getting spammed like crazy on my blog, I didn't have time to upgrade, then my server crashed. On and on. Simply, I have more time to work on things like this right now.
Note that there are some changes to the commenting. Let's just say that the Trotts have come a long way. Wooyoo!
