customization
We seem to be going in direction of product customization again. Zazzle is a new company that targets mass customization (Slashdot). Customization is great to demand a higher price from a consumer but sufficient customer demand disappears quickly in a down economy.
Should businesses always try to meet customers' demands? Like Ford said, "You can paint it any color, so long as it's black." Do consumers want unique products or products that make them unique? Should businesses aim for customers' demands or anticipated needs?
Also, thinking these days of business ideas that achieved the tipping point such as overpriced coffee.
